Chelsea has been giving swim lessons for the last 10 years of her life. Her aquatics background is highly impressive. She is a recent college graduate and is in Palos Verdes (near Portugese bend) for the 2008 summer season. She describes herself in the following paragraphs...

"Hi, my name is Chelsea. I grew up in palos Verdes....attending Peninsula High School and then going on to UC Santa Cruz.

My swimming experience spans many years. I started out at the age of 5 at the Culver Palms YMCA and swam competitively for a total of 16 years. After swimming for the YMCA I joined a USA Club Team by the name of TSM (Team Santa Monica) and swam for them for 10 years. I then swam for Palos Verdes Aquatics while attending Peninsula High School. While at Peninsula High School, I played 3 years of water polo and swam 4 years on the varsity team. During my senior year I was the team captain.

I also swam for four years as a member of the University of California Santa Cruz Swim Team, where I majored in Sociology and Education. Having been a part of many great swim teams, I have had the privilege of learning and growing from all the different coaching styles. I have also had the opportunity to observe and practice various teaching methods while earning my credits in Education.

I started giving swim lessons and life guarding at the age of 14. I gained my initial experience at Santa Monica Community College and went on to work for the Chadwick Summer Camps, Palos Verdes Aquatics, Santa Cruz Swim School, and Slug Aquatics. I have also given countless private lessons to clients in their home pools. Through the years I have given swim lessons to hundreds of individuals ranging from infant "parent and me" classes to kids and adults, all with various levels of ability. I have been teaching swim lessons for the past 10 years and also coached swimming for the last 4 years. Swimming has and will always be a part of my life. I have a great passion and enthusiasm for swiming and this nearly always spills over to the swim pupils I am with. I love to share my love of the sport with the children I teach!"
